I Love My Island is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports the Merritt Island area through outreach programs and initiatives. Your donation is guaranteed to stay local and will directly impact the welfare of the island’s community and its families in need.

Our Programs

Below are four of the programs we support through your donations.

Sponsorships

To support youth activities, we:

Feed hungry children through the Bag Pack program
Sponsor youth programs from athletics to academics
Donate school supplies
Provide scholarships for local sports camps
Fund children’s program for “Back the Blue” event

Additionally, I Love My Island funds 2 scholarships for graduating seniors each year.

Programs for Older Islanders

28% of adults in MI are considered seniors and of those 22% live alone. I Love My Island focuses on helping older islanders through the following activities.

Provide food through our Healthy Meals for Older Adults Program
Sponsor Pen-Pal and “Think of You” note campaigns for isolated seniors
Deliver food, gift and personal hygiene items to home-bound seniors during the holidays

Help for Individuals and Families

The “disaster” most familiar to us is one that happens to an individual or family – an accident, job loss, illness. I Love My Island has been able to help thousands of people through a crisis by providing relief through our program. These are some examples of the support we have given.

Supplied household appliances after a home fire
Provided a wheelchair for a disabled veteran
Furnished an apartment for a mother and children escaping domestic violence

Launch Scholarship

Each year ILMI provides two (2) $500.00 scholarships for students graduating from a Merritt Island High School who have an interest in an entrepreneurial career. Last year’s winner is pursuing a degree in marketing; the focus can be either a certificate program or a degree - what’s important is the plan for achieving that goal.

My Island Thrift Store

The My Island Thrift Store is located 234 E Merritt Island Cswy in Merritt Island, Florida. Donation-based, the store is an essential part of our non-profit organization as it provides a large portion of funding for our other programs. At the store, you can find a wide variety of substantially discounted goods from furniture to clothing, sports equipment, and more.
