Senior Resource Center Programs

Come Visit Our Senior Resource Center located at 230 E Merritt Island Cswy, unit 106 (behind the thrift store).  Our resource center is where Island-area seniors and their families can find what resources and services are available for those elderly facing the challenges of housing, food, health care, transportation, medical needs, socialization and more.

Care Management

I Love My Island, Inc. understands that finding the right resources to assist seniors with everyday activities can be challenging, stressful, and time-consuming. Whether you’re a senior looking for assistance grocery shopping or a family member questioning whether a parent can continue to safely live at home, we are here to guide you through each step of the process. In addition, we offer geriatric healthcare assistance.

With years of experience, I Love My Island, Inc. has built an extensive library of local contacts ready to provide assistance. Our team is up to date on the most current information, has met with each service provider, and has a strong understanding of available programs, associated costs, and eligibility requirements. We also provide follow-up appointments, if needed, to monitor progress.

Let us help bridge the gap and make the process of finding the right local resources more streamlined. This service is provided at no cost. Our only goal is to help identify and access local services that will be helpful to you or your family member.

If you would like to schedule an appointment to discuss your options, please call. We are more than happy to speak with you at our office.

ON-SITE SOCIALIZATION

Loneliness and isolation is the number one problem for seniors and often leads to depression and a decline in mental and physical functioning. The Senior Resource Center will maintain a current listing of social opportunities in the area and provide on-site opportunities to socialize in a safe environment. Game days, Coffee with Friends, movies and other activities are scheduled weekly. Check our Home Page for current calendar of events.

EDUCATION AND SUPPORT GROUPS

Offering education and support groups are another way the Senior Resource Center will assist the community. Additional events will be added at the request of the community. Check our Home Page for current calendar of event or call 321-501-3999 if interested in starting a new group.

Seniors At Lunch/ Healthy Meals for Older Islanders

The Seniors At Lunch program is one of Merritt Island’s best-kept secrets and is held every weekday at Woody Simpson Recreation Center. This program offers social opportunities, activities, and hot meals to anyone who struggles with a disability or is over the age of 60. Free transportation is also provided in the Merritt Island area North of 520.

In conjunction with Seniors At Lunch, I Love My Island, Inc. offers Healthy Meals for Older Islanders as an added service to participants. This program provides simple, nutritious take-home meals for individuals identified in the community as needing food.

The Healthy Meals for Older Islanders program is operated on donations from our generous donors. All funds are used to provide participants with activity supplies, take-home groceries, and personal care items. During the holiday season, donations will also go toward providing gift baskets.

While your cash donations allow us to shop for this program weekly to meet our current participants’ dietary restrictions, there are some items we accept as well, such as low-sodium canned meats, fish, and soups. We also accept donations of fresh vegetables from your garden on Mondays. If you would like more information on this program, please email.
