It’s been a busy year for ILMI!

We awarded $7,000.oo in scholarships to Merritt Island Students.  Our winners were Angelina Nualart, Wyatt Kirk, Nathaniel Miller, Austin Corley, Hoelee Laveck, Alfinez Xiomara and Alxandrea Whitford.  Once again we were impressed by the achievements of all students who applied and it was difficult to make the final decision.  We are SO hopeful and excited about our future with these young adults leading the way!

Our Healthy Meals for Older Adults program continues to be at the forefront of our programs.  In addition to providing food, including fresh fruits and vegetables for seniors in our community who are “food insecure”, we are finally on our way to eliminating the waiting list for Meals on Wheels on the Island.  We are partners with Aging Matters in this endeavor.

So, what do we need to accomplish this?   WE NEED YOU!!!!   We still need volunteers for 3 days a week deliveries.  This is a compact route with 8 to 10 seniors in an area around Needles Blvd.  We are estimating a 90 minutes time frame for this route.  We have a church who is taking one day a week – any other churches out there with volunteers?  Individuals have taken one day a week – we need a few more.  If you can make a commitment for 90 minutes one day a week please let me know.  I would really love to have this begin in September.

I Love My Island is now a partner with Sunflower House to provide durable medical equipment to Islanders in need.  If you need a cane or walker or other medical equipment please let me know.  This is a loan program at no cost.  We also take donation and are currently especially in need of a wheelchair.  Please e-mail me if you have questions or donations, cjp.ilmi1@yahoo.com.

Last, we always need help at our thrift store.  At this time we have openings for paid employees and always need volunteers.  If you are interested in a paid position please stop at the store and complete an application.

I have the best job in the world and look forward to hearing from you.  Please feel free to e-mail. CJP.ILMI1@yahoo.com.
